500 cattle were sold at the Lismore  Saleyards on Saturday.

100 to 150 mm of rain fell throughout the local area on Friday night giving farmers much needed water for dams and grass growth.

220 mixed quality steers sold to strong competition from Tablelands & local buyers.

The best of the weaner steers sold from $3.00 to $3.18/kg.

Secondary lines $2.60 to $3.00 & lightweights $2.30 to $3.00/kg.

Geoff Cairns’ Limo X $3.18 – $652.

D & K  Elliotts Charolais  $3.16 – $782.

Stewart & Anne Robertsons Charolais $3.14 – $905

Heavy steers were scarce, Beth Hayter’s British White $2.88/kg, $1282.

Heifers also sold at much better rates.

Greg Hughes’ line of Charbray weaners sold for $2.96/kg, $535.

Nowlan Trading’s well bred Angus X Hereford heifers sold for $2.80/kg, $482.

Heavy weaner heifers sold from $2.40 to $2.65/kg.

Sivewright & Brown’s Brahman X heifers $2.64, $757.

Cows & calves topped at $1600 for Brad Smiths Charolais X, with most young breeders $1200 t0 $1500.

Secondary cows & calves sold from $750 t0 $1000.

On Tuesday, producers took the wait and see policy and only 70 cattle were yarded.

Prices showed improvement on last week.

Grain fed yearlings sold from $2.74 to $2.88/kg.
